In the Heat of the Sun (1994) Chinese Movie

Synopsis

Ma Xiaojun, a teenage boy granted absolute freedom, grew up recklessly in Beijing during the tumultuous days of the Cultural Revolution. With schools in disarray and little to occupy his time, he began sneaking into strangers’ homes using a self-made key. One day, he unwittingly entered the house of Mi Lan. Just as he explored the unfamiliar space, Mi returned home earlier than expected, leaving Ma with no choice but to hide under the bed. From his concealed spot, he caught sight of the young girl changing. In that fleeting moment, innocent curiosity transformed into infatuation, and he found himself drawn to her.

With no clear intentions or expectations, Ma clumsily attempted to court Mi, navigating the unfamiliar emotions of first love. Time flowed on, reshaping both boys and girls as they left childhood behind. Looking back, those days of youthful longing seem bathed in endless sunlight, the heat of which—though distant—still lingers in the memories of a generation.
